BellaAssist funding pathway

How BellaAssist is funded through your NDIS plan

For Support Coordinators, Plan Managers, allied health practitioners, and self-managed participants.

How BellaAssist is funded

BellaAssist costs $499 a year, and it's designed to fit within an existing NDIS plan. There's nothing for the participant to pay out of pocket.

The most common funding pathway is Low-Cost Assistive Technology — line item 03_222100911_0124_1_1, Communication or Cognitive Support. At $499, BellaAssist sits well within the $1,500 Low-Cost AT threshold.

For participants without specific Assistive Technology funding, Consumables within Core supports works equally well. Self-managed participants can claim under Self-Management and Plan Management line items.

Whichever pathway the plan uses, the process is the same: BellaAssist sends the Plan Manager (or the participant directly, if self-managed) a proper NDIS-compliant invoice along with a personalised Reasonable and Necessary justification.

What gets sent for the claim.

When a participant joins BellaAssist, two documents are generated automatically and sent to their Plan Manager (or to the participant directly, if self-managed):

  1. A proper NDIS-compliant invoice for $499.
  2. A personalised Section 34 Reasonable and Necessary justification, pre-filled with the participant's specific disability context, functional needs, and plan goals.

Both documents are designed to give the Plan Manager what they need to assess the claim under the participant's existing plan.

Reasonable and Necessary alignment under s34

BellaAssist is designed to support a Plan Manager or NDIA review against section 34 of the NDIS Act:

  • s34(1)(b) — direct connection to disability. BellaAssist provides cognitive and communication support to navigate the NDIS, an activity that is materially impaired by the participant's disability. The platform is designed for participants with cognitive, communication, or executive function impairments, with WCAG 2.2-aligned accessibility built in from the start.
  • s34(1)(d) — value for money. BellaAssist is priced at $499 per participant per year. Formal Functional Capacity Assessments range from approximately $850 to $3,000. Support Coordinator preparation time for a plan review is commonly 6 hours or more. BellaAssist supports the value-for-money case by providing structured evidence preparation at a fraction of the cost of the equivalent professional time.
  • Aligned to the scheme's direction of travel. With the announced move toward standardised functional-capacity assessments to determine access and planning, structured evidence preparation will increase in importance. BellaAssist's evidence model is aligned to assessment frameworks including I-CAN v6.
  • Australian sovereign infrastructure. Participant data does not leave Australian jurisdiction. APP-compliant.
